Scotch Gambit. Hands down best opening for beginners. Usually works best when playing against players rated 500 - 1000. It goes like this: e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Bc4. If played correctly, you can gain central dominance early, castle quickly, and possibly win a rook.
I need something to surprise my opponent, but I prefer strategic openings that don't have much dynamics. Can anyone recommend something?
I will also add that I usually play the Spanish.
