what’s your win rate with your favourite opening?

I score two thirds of the time with the Englund Gambit and EIG against d4.
I just didn’t enjoying playing against the London System so I would literally play the Englund Gambit a pawn down and equalize some where in the middle game but that only worked up to 1500 rated players.
I prefer tactical and open games so the EIG suits my taste and makes d4 games enjoyable again.

55% win rate with the Kings Gambit is acceptable.
I left it for the English because the KG can be difficult to score accurately and black has many strong replies/theories which took the fun away from me.
I guess e4 in general has a lot of theory.

That’s funny, I enjoy the kings gambit precisely because of those strong replies, especially the g5 stuff. In the beginning I started playing the kings gambit because my opponents often let me win back the pawn and build up a solid centre but now I play it because win or lose, an interesting game is guaranteed… assuming I don’t hang a piece for my opponent to take lol

I have very good results with King’s Gambit accepted (65% win rate). My rating is about 1600, and it seems that many opponents at this level just don’t know what to do against the King’s Gambit. It’s a relatively rare opening, so people don’t study it and don’t know how to play against it. And like you say, win or lose, I always have fun with it.

My rating is usually around 1400, sometimes dipping down to 1300 or rising to 1500… if most opponents at your level don’t know how to play against the kings gambit, then the ones at mine shouldn’t either. Maybe I’m just not good enough at exploiting their mistakes. I wonder what resources you’ve used to study the kings gambit, if you used any at all. So far I’ve taken some chess.com lessons on it and attempted to read a book on it (Joe Gallagher - winning with the kings gambit) but didn’t get further than the first few chapters since the ideas presented in it were far above my level and didn’t seem to affect my play. I’ve risen a couple hundred rating points since then though, so maybe it’d be a good idea to revisit it and try again.

I also have Gallagher’s book, and like you I haven’t been able to get much from it. I can’t say anything bad about the book at all, but I have just never connected with it.
A couple of years ago I bought John Shaw’s book, “The King’s Gambit”. This has been a very helpful and enjoyable resource for me.
