I think Kid will be more useful because people can delay playing Nc3 and you wont be able to play Gunfeld in that case. Do prepare your opening against London and h4 h5.
Goodluck.

You are rated 1473. You do not lose games because of the opening but because of tactical errors.
"Been playing classical dutch exclusively" ++ Stick to that.
"I am starting to get bored with it" ++ How can you get bored? What about professional players who play much more than you and do not get bored.
"my choices are KID or grunfeld"
++ King's Indian Defence and Grünfeld Indian Defence are two of the most complicated defences. One slip and you are lost. So if you change, expect to lose much more than before. Objectively Grünfeld Indian Defence is considered to be better than King's Indian Defence now, but at your level it makes no difference.
For me it’s a matter of taste and personality. If you like imbalance, sharp and tactical counter play; then the Grunfeld is your drink. With that said, you don’t always get the Grunfeld mainline exchange variation so be prepared to transpose to semi-Slav lines or an Indian game. White has mainly 4 replies and when you grasp the ideas or themes; play becomes intuitive since both sides reveal their hands and know what both sides are playing for. Reminds me of the Sicilian because black is saying I am “all-in” and playing for the win.
I find all three enjoyable and had immediate success in OTB classical time controls against 1500-1900 bracket as you do need time think and navigate but even online, I will throw the Grunfeld in just to surprise my opponent and have fun.
@busterlark, he is correct. Trading into an endgame with a two on one or none pawn majority favours black if you can get that far in the game.

English defence.. that way you can still opt a dutch or even a queens Indian..
But okay. You want something not dutch.. well there you go.
If that doesn't appeal to you I don't know what will because beginner/intermediates will frustrate your King's Indian attempts with London systems or some weird moves. And now you've chosen a system that can't effectively punish them for it. You've committed. Gruenfelds can be sidetracked by not playing cxd5 and those positions aren't fun. Not with white or black
thanks to everyone who responded, i've decided to go with KID, as it has some resemblance to Dutch. Thank y'all
You could try the old benoni and budapest gambit against d4. Both openings have only one good response for white and are therefore quite straight-forward. Especially the budapest gambit is a very rare sight, so you can easily knock people out of their prep.

Black can opt to play c6 structures and associated middle game plans in certain cases.
C6 structures are safe but not as interesting as the KID. But to make grunfeld interesting,u need to know a lot of concrete lines
c6 is drawing, but has its place and blacks has to understand the ideas, plans and why behind c6 is all I am saying.
Similarly, d5xc4 has it place as well; more stuff black has to know and respond accurately to whites plans.
You shouldnt always push c5 because it’s considered a book move.
Against the English or London, black has choices to play d6 vs d5 and c6 Vs c5.

Yes, but my point is the difference between the slav and the semi-slav is the light squared bishop, maybe you can transpose into the g6 slav but its nothing like semi-slav.

Yes, and if your going to play the Grunfeld, you have to know those associate plans as well.
It’s not something you can play auto-pilot.

You never can go autopilot in any opening
Been playing classical dutch exclusively, am starting to get bored with it, my choices are KID or grunfeld which one should i pick at intermediate level?
