Why is e4 so commonly played in the first move?

Yes, they maybe equally good, but then my question is why most of the times e4? What is the thing it has which other moves(good ones) don't?

Why is e4 so common? Why not nf3 or d4? They are played, but not so commonly. Why?
It has to do with the kind of opening transitions and middlegame positions 1.e4, 1.Nf3, 1.d4, or 1.c4 tend to lead to... and fashion. It's not related to an objective superiority of one above another. You can say that the players you've seen feel more comfortable with 1.e4, but that's all. Half a century ago 1.d4 was more popular, and if one of these days AlphaZero comes back playing 1.f3 and winning convincingly, you can reasonably expect 1.f3 will have thousands of followers thereafter.

I would urge more high rated players and titled players to tell us their point of view so that everyone following this forum or participating in it can learn something new!

it allows immediate development of your bishop and queen also its just been played more so more is known about it

It just comes to personal preference. e4 is easier to play for new players, and most of them just stick with it when they improve. You can any first move if you have an aggressive style, and the same with a passive style. Kasparov was very successful with e4 and d4 and even c4 (especially in the final game of the 1987 world championship match with Karpov.)

There are so many openings like the reti , the London system etc but still, why is 1.e4 still preferred above them?
