As black side, you must have one defense against e4 and one against d4 :
> Exemples against e4 : French, Caro-Kahn, Sicilian...
> Exemples against d4 : Slav (is good if your defense against e4 is Caro-Kahn, because you will find the same pawn structure), Indian, Grunfeld...
As white side, you must decide for a main openning : e4, d4, c4, Cf3... and learn to play against all defenses. For exemple if you play 1.e4, you must learn to play aginst French, Sicilian, Ruy Lopez... If you play 1. c4, you have less theory to learn.
I have been attempting to write down my opening repitoire for both white and black to prepare me for an upcoming tournament. I seem to be having trouble keeping the lines orgnaized to make it easy to come back to... basically i need some advice about how to PROPERLY write an opening repitiore... Thanks
