Is anyone who lives in Long Island, NY interested in meeting up to play chess in a public location? Preferably players who are actually or are at a skill level of at least 1000 USCF. We have a few players that are currently meeting up that are between 1200 and 2000 USCF.

Try this page:

It's a list of chess clubs in New York.  There are several in Long Island, and if there aren't any in your immediate area, there is contact information where you might find unofficial clubs or individuals who might want to play.  Give it a shot and good luck!

I live on LI and am looking for people to play.  I'm right by the nassau/suffolk border.  As far as my skill level I do not know my USCF score but I have about a 1450 rating for reg games here and about a 1600 on daily games (although that score is usually in the upper 1500's as opposed to lower 1600's) Please 18 and over only as I am an adult and would not feel comfortable meeting up with a minor.  Message me if there is any interest.  Maybe meet up in a park, coffee shop or quiter bar.  Weekdays after work is when I'm usually available.

All...there are several places that meet in Long Island . For starters...Panero bread at the Smithhaven mall has a group that meets every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The guys are there after 6 PM.

On Mondays, the Dix hills library has a group that meets downstairs after 3pm. Thursday nights the Bay shore library has a club that meets after 6 PM.

Currently, I am trying to reserve a room at the Smithtown library and will keep you posted.

Forgot to mention Friday nights at the Center reach library. 6pm is when you usually see them meet.....bring clock and set.

ALL- Some new action just opened up at the SMITHHAVEN Mall Courtyard. Courtyard chess is a family run operation that supplies and rents out boards and tables to all. A kiosk selling t-shirts and other chess related items, accompanies the chess tables beneath a comfortable sized Kazibo. Courtyard chess is located directly behind the Banrnes and Nobles bookstore and open during Mall hours every day till September.

How is the courtyard chess going?
