Real nice to see, thank you all for sharing.
Anatoly Karpov

Very nice, thank you 5xadrezmemoria7. I'm fast becoming a fan of Karpov. Does someone know who is the American player in the second to last photo above, the color photo?

American...Yes, but by birth Birth: Czech Lubomir (Lubosh) Kavalek
The Tournament: Caracas 1970. By the way, wonderful victory for Kavalek. He plays like "Karpov python style" against Karpov! One of the rare defeats of Karpov in tournament play!

RE: the 4th from bottom--did Tolya learn that evil glare from Tal? I really like that pic of Karpov & Tal as well (7th down).

I thought that was a Dutchman, see the flag at the left, and that the player is John van der Wiel:
Oh, wait now I see that I should read 'second to last photo above' and not 'second to last photo above the color photo'. The photo with van der Wiel should in Dutch be the second to last photo.

:) sweet. Thanks for telling me about Kavalek and for linking to that game. You have just introduced a chess newbie to his first game of both Kavalek and of Karpov.
check out chessbase latest post. The ex world champion is leading and crushing far more active and higher rating! http://chessbase.com/Home/TabId/211/PostId/4011675/karpov-crushing-cap-dagde-291013.aspx
Some very nice and quite out-of-the-ordinary views of Karpov. Thanks, 5xadrezmemoria7.
