I played the Bronstein-Larsen variation in the Caro-Kann for quite a while. Loved it. Very sharp and creative.

I've got Bent Larsen's "50 Udvalgte Partier" - it's good to read Bent's own words in his own language :-)

He's one of the only GM's to have regularly played the Bird opening, 1. f4. For that reason, I'm a fan of him.

Yes, Bent Larsen is cool becouse of his cool openings. He played openings no other grandmasters ever played. One of this openings, is the Bird Opening.

Bent Larsen is alive and currently lives in South America. I have been told he has been quite ill recently. His games are all very innovative and full of fighting spirit. I have the English translation of his Best Games and it is an excellent read full of good  commentary and excellent games. People forgot but he was actually the top board in the original USSR v World match ahead of Bobby Fischer.

Henrik Danielsen plays Bird too. But he plays it like a dutch with white and calls it the polar bear system.

Bent Larsen passed away in 2010. The world will (and is) miss him.

CHCL

Sometimes his openings were ridiculous. One time he even played the Parham!

Clarsen

The Bent Larsen group is now around 150 members!

Toldsted

In his games he very often pushed the a- or h-pawns - like Alphazero!

BaronVonChickenpants

I thought he was great in Captain Marvel!

Larsen's win over Spassky with 1.f4 in 64 is one of my favorite games ever. It is just such aesthetically pleasing pawn avalanche.

Just a wonderful clash of the titans! Both players took chances, made mistakes, and played great moves.

I have a question. Did Larsen and Miles have the same style ? They both were great fighters, both great defenders, and both liked to play flank or offbeat openings. For example Larsen beat Karpov with the Scandinavian and Miles beat Karpov with the Saint George. What do you think?

Larsen was a victim of the era he played in.  If he was at his peak before, or after Karpov, and Kasparov, he may very well had been a world champion.  Just my .02

Well, I’d say he was at his peak long before Karpov/Kasparov. He had his best results in the 1960s and was 16 years older than Karpov (28 years older than Kasparov).
