Dewa_Kipas is getting banned for dong nothing wrong

A world chess gamer named GothamChess lost to an online chess match against men from Indonesia. Then the father's account was blocked, netizens protested.

This incident was experienced by Dadang Subur, a man from Bandung who had defeated the international chess player GothamChess in the chess.com online chess match. Dadang's account Dewa_Kipas, while GothamChess is a Chess Player and YouTuber/Streamer with many followers.

The reason Dadang was banned was allegations of cheating by GothamChess fans and led to mass reporting to block Dadang Subur's account. In fact, the match between Dadang and GothamChess was broadcast live via online streaming service, Twitch.

Through the GothamChess Twitch account, this match was watched by thousands of fans. With the black pieces used by Dadang, he managed to defeat GothamChess for 10 minutes on March 2, 2021.

This victory was unacceptable to GothamChess fans and reporting. Dadang's son, Ali Akbar, then told this incident on Facebook and it went viral. According to Ali Akbar, the cheating was accused by his father because Dadang had an ELO of 2,300.

"But the pace and the way he played was like someone with an ELO of more than 2,700 or the equivalent of a grandmaster," said Ali.

Did Dadang Subur cheat as alleged? Ali Akbar has also clarified through his Facebook account that his father, Dadang Subur, was not cheating. Because he is indeed a former professional chess player who has participated in many chess tournaments since a young age.

The GothamChess VS Dewa_Kipas chess match page on Chess.com was flooded with comments. Many insult and defend Dewa_Kipas.

"This guy is cheating. If you look at the accuracy and duration of the movement, it is impossible not to cheat," Fieldlord said.

"It's a shame for GothamChess fans who can't accept their idol losing," said Cikoji.

"Lose, then the fans reported the parents who just played chess.com. It's a shame for GothamChess fans," said Ghaffaridzan.

Damn guy. Just get a grip on your senses . Chess dot com has a cheat detection system , that works with a rigorous and complex method. Mass reporting has no significance. Stop acting like clowns.

They're idiots.

Plus I'm pretty sure popular streams like Hikaru, Chessbrah, and now Gotham have a mod who just happens to watch or even a staff member assigned to watch them from time to time... because when a cheater is banned instantly it's really good publicity.

For normal people it can take a week or two even if the cheating is obvious, which is why some of them might think the streamer is the one closing accounts.

Is Levy doing something wrong here? he just play and streaming right? even if his viewer flag Dewa_Kipas is he doing something wrong? Chess.com already make a statement that they don't take an action based on someone's report only.

Lock this thread already. The guy cheated, end of story. If you guys want to know the "clarification" that he made on facebook on why his record on blitz and puzzle rush is horrible. In a nutshell, he cannot think properly if only given 3 minutes on the clock because of... reason??? As for the puzzle rush, the only excuse he has is that his son is the one playing it, not himself, just wow rofl.

But the most irritating thing is how Indonesian started to attack Levy's account, all of his recent video have stupidly high dislike amount. Most if not all the people who did so does not even understand how to play chess, judging by the comment they left (which mostly ask how can you cheat on a website) As an Indonesian myself I absolutely despise this. Sorry if I'm rambling, but this just irritates me way more than I expected and I just need to let it all out. My humble apology

I just went to the son's facebook account, he already make a clarification that the problem with Levy has been solved, and now he is the one that getting bullied because he's "backing out" out of this problem. Typical Indonesian netizen.

Yes but ultimately his dad's account is still suspended. And all these "problems" do not need to be solved in the first place, because there isn't a problem. Your dad cheats, he gets banned, it's as simple as that. But these people go out of their way to dislike's all of Levy's recent video on YouTube and even going as far as giving him and his girlfriend a death threat is just disgusting.

I have found that the Cheat Detection team usually gets it right.

Note to self. If someone gets banned for cheating all they gotta do is post a non time-stamped picture of an old man playing on an android (a handwritten book of openings is fine apparently even if it technically counts as cheating), and say that the player's mind or fingers are to slow to move faster than once every 15 seconds. And, that all mediocrity on the account is from a family member.

Yes, this makes soooo much sense.

Reality is Levy has an incredibly solid record of catching cheats, and he doesn't accuse anybody who beats him of cheating. He watches several games, looks at statistics, and how fast moves are played etc. The fact that Levy has basically shut down his social media over this garbage, and has disabled aspects of his youtube page is just messed up.

Even worse is that people have made this a cultural thing. Levy Doesn't care about Nationality. He's a New Yorker who talks trash while playing Chess, because it's his online gimmick that pays the bills. It's not complicated stuff.
