Gata Kamsky is 1 of the 24 competitors playing in this year's US Chess Championship at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of St. Louis...

The Grandmaster with a USCF rating of 2,798 hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. In 2007 Kamsky won the World Cup and back in 1991 took the U.S. Championship...do you think he has what it takes to conquer the 09 Championship?

Yes, I believe he has to be the fav. Nakamura will obv. be giving him a run also.

But my favorite going in will be, GM Josh Friedel. I would love to see him pull this off, even tho he is 200 rating points below Kamsky. All tho with his run in Toronto he will be higher.

Josh taking it with Gata and Hikaru there? holly cow that would be epic!  Here he is having some fun with a 2300 in the Archangel Lopez.

With Friedel defeating both Nakamura and Shulman at the 2008 Chicago Open, I think he can give them a run for their money.

I just found out the host of the 09 championship, the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of St. Louis, will be offering all of the games live from their site through PGN files.

Also, Jennifer Shahade just posted Fantasy Chess for the championship.
