Kasparov dad again

Kasparov just announced that his fourth child was born this week, so now it's

Polina 1993 w first wife Masha

Vadim 1997 w second wife Julia

Aida 2006 w third wife Dasha

Nickolas 2015 w third wife Dasha

That should win the World Champion children competition with a wide margin, must do some research here though...

Carlsen has no children yet (that we know of), Anand's son Akhil was born 2011 and Kramnik's children were born 2008 (Daria) and 2013 (Vadim).

What about Karpov?

fabelhaft

A son named Anatoly like his dad, born in 1979, and then Sophia, born much later, in his second marriage, maybe around 2000 or something like that.

So the 2028 WC will be Vadim K  v  Vadim K ?!?

It might even be five children in Kasparov's case, since many sites give it as a fact that he was the father of Marina Neyelova's daugther Nika, born in 1987. Kasparov had been together with Marina for a few years, but claimed that he was not the father. "She claims that Kasparov is the father, he says he's not" is how it was written in an article I once read. The article on Kasparov in Russiapedia by Anna Yudina simply states that "in 1987 their daughter Nika was born", but I guess it's still something of a mystery.

Women and children summed up below...

Ok, so this is Dasha. I thought she's Darya or something like that. Smile

Her given name is Daria but Russians just always use Dasha instead.

Nika is quite a successful artist, by the way, it's just to search for Nika Neelova and there are lots of links to her artwork.

Aaa, thanks for that! Smile

"I'm sure Capa had dozens... maybe hundreds"

One might think so going by his reputation, but strangely enough there doesn't even seem to be any stories of more children than the two born in 1923 and 1925. Alekhine, on the other hand, might have had one more than the one listed above, but that seems far from certain:

Huh, that's so bizarre. I saw that Giri will have a kid so it made me think of chess playing parents. And I thought, not a lot of 2700 players have kids, Anand does but Kramnik doesn't. And then it turns out Kramnik has more kids than Anand! Wow. I guess it's just that I hear so little about them so I never end up knowing.

There's also for example Topalov, Radjabov, Grischuk, Polgar and Svidler to list some players that have been top ten since 2005. The correct number for Kasparov really ought to be five rather than the official four, the more one reads about it the more clear it seems that Nika Neelova is his daughter but that he just refused to acknowledge it.

"Maybe he's just a reluctant acknowledger!"

Indeed, even if many have difficulties acknowledging losses. To me this thing with Marina and her child gives a much worse impression. They were together for quite a while (1984-86) a child was conceived during that time, as far as I know few doubted that Kasparov was the father, and later the daughter also turned out to look very much like him (just look at the picture of Nika further up in the thread). But Kasparov just brushed it all away, claiming she must have become pregnant with someone else, and that just closed the case for good as far as he was concerned: "we have gone our separate ways. She has since had a baby girl - of which I am not the father, I must add, despite suggestions to that effect in the Western press" (Child of Change, 1987)
