Guys... just a side note here - what do u think the chances are that Natalia Pogonina is closely following this thread?

Her husband posted on the first page of the thread.

and the point of this thread is...?

That the OP is trying to sublimate his primitive urges any way he can.

lol.... i like that ...it's almost a compliment ...however,

Freud invented the idea of sublimation to save us from the imaginary claws of the unconscious. If anything is apparently sublimated it never was what a false interpretation took it to be.

-C.G.Jung

sorry,i'm just not as immature as some of you apparently want me to be

What?  Doesn't that need context or something?  When is something ever what a false interpretation takes it to be?

in answer to your first question:

it's all on the page in front of you.

in answer to your second question:

it's all on the page in front of you. however, you would need to know what the concept of sublimation is.

in answer to your third question:

in reality it's not ! that's the point.

Freud made it up ! his hypothesis of sublimation was an attempt to substantiate some mistaken assumptions in some parts of his flawed theories on how the mind works. Jung was pointing that out.

thanks for your interest , hope that helps clarify   :)

The post above hardly clarifies anything, and reads terribly.

An Administrator of roughly eight different (and thoroughly exciting) Chess.com Teams, starts a racy thread.  Then he flails about (repeatedly) when it doesn't attract the kind of attention he feels is his due.

Did I miss something here?  Freud and Jung, notwithstanding?

I was a fan of hers but she blocked me from her photo album...I was respectful I thought.  And I found other's comments worse and in bad taste.

But there's no hard feelings and I hope she does very well in her chess career!  Rock and roll Natalia!

IMO most of these pictures of young chess ladies aren't very... I don't know, subtle?  And I think maybe when they get a little older they might regret some of them.

Maybe NP's are more classy than some of the others.  The ones on the first page are fine.  But then I go to her profile and there she is in a bra

Maybe I'm an idiot, but seems like some of these ladies need to make up their mind.  If they don't want to hear about how guys would have sex with them then put on some clothes before you go to a photo shoot and post them all over the internet.  Seems like common sense to me... but then again maybe there's something I don't get.

Wow!  Never would have expected a post like this from a waffllemaster.

Better cover up if your picture is taken!  Gimme a break.

This, too, is shit.  Your pecker can get hard without you having to share it with the object of your desire.

This thread appears to be zeroing in on the real nitty gritty.

No mincing of words from those Mid-West, straight talking chaps.  Laughing

Onward!

YES !  ... and all due to a lack of proper interpretation of the facts. Smile

but thanks for the compliment about the teams, much appreciated.

For £999.00, my wife will also offer a "Meet and Play Ellen" deal consisting of "dinner, friendly chess game, autographs, pics together, report on Facebook.com (optional)"

She's not a WGM, but she is a good cook ;p

Seems like give and take to me. She draws a line somewhere, and where she draws it is her prerogative.

I've not seen her being rude to any of her fans, which is more than can be said for many people who post sexy pictures then complain when people mention them. As for Natalia, she moderates comments on her album. That's all. She doesn't complain, criticise, say "Go away and stop leering, creeps! I demand you respect only my chess skill and not notice my body which I have cheerfully presented alongside it". No, she responds positively to some comments, ignores others, and deletes a few.

As far as I can see, this is perfectly decent behaviour, and I salute her.

On a side-note, though, I am suprised at myself for not having previously noticed that her Chessgames.com profile picture has her in her underwear on the floor. This is usually the sort of thing I would notice. Instead, I previously completely missed this, as my eye was immediately caught by her Sicilian Dragon games instead Laughing

I don't know why, but I'm still nominating this thread starter for a Chess.com Troll of the Year 2013.

Yeah, I was being hard on her.  Seems to be the norm for young female chess players.  Maybe the males will get into it too some day.  Carlsen did some modeling right?

Interesting she calls herself a grandmaster everywhere.  FIDE doesn't: http://ratings.fide.com/card.phtml?event=4147855

I think other organizations offer grandmaster titles... which I suppose is why some authors/trainers take the effort to mention they're international grandmasters i.e. FIDE grandmasters.

waffllemaster

Pogonina and all the other young female chess players who pose half dressed didn't "really" do modelling either.

Try to find pictures of a young Krammnik or Ivanchuk in a speedo or spread out on the floor wearing some designer jeans... that's the difference.

learningthemoves

Jason, am I reading your FIDE link wrong or doesn't it correctly state she has a woman Grand Master title?

Or were you simply making the distinction between the regular grandmaster and woman grandmaster titles?

Just trying to understand.

Scottrf

Yeah, she's a WGM, her page says 'Grandmaster, Olympic Champion' rather than making the distinction.

I think its because of this:

Grandmaster of Russia (2006)

Not FIDE, but her national federation, as you were guessing (I guess that that was your guess).

It´s okay to make the distinction, since WGM and GM are different.

performance required for a WGM norm is 2400.

performance required for a GM norm is 2600.

elo required for the GM title is 2500.

elo required for the WGM title is 2300.

Scottrf

Ah I see, wasn't aware of 'Grandmaster of Russia'.

Well... so far you haven't nominated the OP on the official nominations thread yet. Your nomination will only be counted if you post it there.
