Opponent not moving in Daily Chess!

Hii there!
CuriosBasant

There is many instants I found where I started a daily chess game and the opponent does not move at all. Therefore I have to wait for his/her time up. That is very annoying. I want to know whether I can abort the game or not? Because it makes the list long unnecessary.

Hey Curios, and anyone who could advise me. I’ve been playing a game and I have had my opponent in # in 6 moves. The time is 3 days per move. For anyone who doesn’t know, diamond level players get more time and a warning that their game is in jeopardy of losing. I also understand that we can take 66 days vacation/sick time hold per year. I have been playing this game for 4 months. The guy has made 1 move in 2 months. I’ve looked at his profile: He is playing 50 games constantly at any one time. He has 22 consecutive wins. I’m thinking that if there are 4 days between moves, and he has another 30 days saved up, and if the 66 days renews in January, he could conceivably keep this game going until March or April. I’ve implored the guy to just resign or start moving. Where do I go for relief from this ‘sore’ loser?

But my opponent has 1 minute left, does not have a membership, is not moving, almost was never online, and I'm just waiting and waiting. What is going on? Is this a lag or something????

In the daily settings on the website, there is a switch to claim a win in case of a timeout.

Sounds like cause for a welfare check.

I feel your pain! The worse thing that chess.com has ever done (in my humble opinion) is make the “on vacation” option available. I told them that, when I reported an opponent that was abusing it. They just kept trying to justify the option. I just canceled auto-renewal this morning when I discovered that my opponent went on vacation with 9-hrs of time on his clock. To me, it doesn’t make sense! There are too many other options one can use to stay chess-active! It’s frustrating to no end!

Thanks!

I do feel for all of you; this is happening to me too. I am clearly winning in a game and my opponent is stalling until he has 1 hour left, and then his time instantly goes back to 3 days after he makes a move. I understand this is a 3 day per move game; however, you should have something like a clock accelerator during a certain threshold of time.

Maybe:

Try to contact a chess.com Staff Member. Maybe you could influence a rule change which makes this happen!

a. No vacation allowed if below certain time, OR

b. Vacation only allowed if player has shown that he/she can manage games without vacation and/or has more than a certain amount of games in waiting. If they do, then they are allowed to take vacation IN games where they have enough time. DON'T FEEL BAD; YOUR OPPONENT WILL GET BACK TO YOU! If they don't, then they will timeout.

I just get so frustrated. I have checkmate on the next move. My opponent only has one forced move. He was playing quite quickly until my move put him in this position. This was daily chess but a similar thing happens in blitz if the opponent loses a queen or something, they just let the clock run down.

If people stall losing games, feel free to report them and if they have a history of it will be warned etc. Thanks

technical_knockout

set no-vacation & 3-hr. time limits.

Laavanya_Pradhan

hmm....man I can't manage tahat well if 90+ games...

technical_knockout

6 hr, 12 hr & 1 day are options.

i'd play fewer games at once, personally.

Gymstar

i am playing this one guy who just ran out of vacation time and he had 66 days of it

technical_knockout

good looking out.

I think you can set some conditional moves so that when your opponent makes a move chess.com will just automatically make it for you.
