Pawn Sacrifice Movie

They totally misrepresented how Bobby was raised and made it look like he grew up with all kinds of mental problems.  And they misrepresented many facts of his play and games and opponents.  If they were going to make a film like this why did not they do it right!

fischeriii

the whole film is about making Bobby look like a delusional kid from day one.  what a farce.

then in the movie when they portrayed Bobby as hooking up with some hooker and sleeping with her, that was it for me.  This movie is a piece of trash, but at least they showed a few things about Bobby that a memorable.

I saw it 3 days ago.  Thought it was terrible!

Astonishingly bad errors and biases in the film:

1 - Made chess players out to be "on the edge" of mental illness

2 - The ranting beach scene between Fischer and Spassky was powerful stupid

3 - Fischer resigns after Bxa7 pawn blunder.  Actual game went on for many more moves

4 - After Fischer demands world champion match be held in quiet room, Spassky pretends to be delusional/paranoid to "show up" Fischer, who then (out of embarrasment) moves the match back to the main event hall just in time for the audience to applaud Game 6.  This never happened.

5 - Game 6 is, as we hollywood-slop watching idiots should KNOW, the end of the tournament for world championship... right?  Right.

6 - During all of the footage of the 1950 candidate trials in Bled, there isn't ONE shot that shows an authentic Dubrovski style chess set.  Plenty of western sets with big-ol crosses on the kings though!  In fact, the chess set designs through the entire movie EXCEPT the world championship match all seemed out of place.

7 - I could go on... but it's just too depressing to think about.  If a large part of the world sees this film and thinks that itbin ANY way resembles the truth about Chess and Chess players, then help us all!

Really, really bad.  See a better chess movie instead, like "Searching for Bobby Fischer", "Bobby Fischer Against the World", or my favorite foreign chess film "Queen to Play".

It was a horrible job of trying to portray Bobby's life.  Hollywood should have just left it alone.
