Taunters and Trolls

Why do some players find it necessary to verbally attack other players while playing a simple game of chess? Not only does it show immaturity and lack of sportsmanship, but its also a great way to get banned. I messaged Chess.com about their policies on banning accounts and what sort of verbal use a player would have to use in order to be banned. The reply was simple enough: "Any association with cursing or other vulgar notions will result in a warning. If this behavior continues and other players also report the player about using obscure language, that player will be banned without warning."

Seems fair. Sometimes I will have an obnoxious player tell me to resign when I lose a minor piece early in the game, but half the time I end up winning anyway. And usually, players that had an easy win but still lost are the ones to watch out for. They can be such sore losers, even sore winners. Blunders happen all the time. Players will gloat about being way ahead in material, only to be checkmated the next turn. Then, thats when they start having a typing seizure.

Having played over 1500 online games of chess myself, I have only seen 2 players attack with so much verbal distraction that I blocked them. I never reported anyone, though. I don't have time for that nonsense :)

Below: REAL conversation I have had with a REAL chess player. Enjoy the LOL's

Why do people continue to post stuff like this in public forums?

Report him, move on, no need to post it.

It doesn't mean that much to me. Well, enough for me to post, and then to go and find this to answer you. But that's it. Cool

-_-

wow, im soooo sorry if i got everyones knickers in a twist...lol

but legit, if u got nothing better to do then bash me for a simple forum post:

1: I feel sorry for you

2: Please realize that a comment on a forum will probably never be seen by more then a few dozen people, and most of the time they dont even read your comment fully. so u asserted more energy by typing ur furious words then was ever necessary, probably to a millionth of a degree...its literally, in all possible English words, pointless.

doomsuckle

If it's funny/retarded, can it even be considered trolling/abusive/taunting?

Lol, I've really tried to appear as lighthearted as possible, I guess emoticons just don't cut it.

What I just posted was copied and pasted from the sites posting rules - that's all.

Chill. Cool
