IM Cheap, ur country borns natural players since chess is subject n ur schools. in d phil, u r out on ur own- wesley was taught by his father and exposed d kid 2 tournaments locally, b4 getting some private support for competing abroad when wesley beat all opposition in d phil. it was only later that d govt supported him- maybe out of pride [or callousness?]. in d philippines, its very seldom that any kid gets support- unless he go d way wesley so went - HARD HARD WORK.
The 14 year old Wesley So of the Philippines is currently the youngest GM today, recently he won the 10th dubai chess championship earlier this month
Wesely So Won The Cup
The world's youngest Grandmaster, 14-year-old Wesley So of the Philippines won the Dubai Open with 7 points out of 9 rounds.
