What are minority attack and majority

A minority attack occurs between pawn groups. Often, one side will end up with more pawns on one side than the other.

When the attacking pawns outnumber their opposing side pawns, it is a majority attack. The majority attack can create passed pawns.
These pawn groupings become of more importance in the endgame.
