what is the elo rating of Bobby Fischer??

It should be noted that Magnus Carlsen is not listed on chessmetrics.com.  Fischer was at #1 only for the one year peak.  For the 2 year through the 20 year peak Kasparaov is at #1 for all of them!  It's too bad that Fischer turned into jew hating jerk (I think he was a kook most of his life, but at least early on he was sane) and stopped playing chess on the professional circuit.  Who knows what he could have accomplished?  I think Capablanca was more naturally talented than any other chess player though.  If he had had the discpline of Fischer or Alekhine to study or be coached I think he'd have eclipsed all others up to date.  But GMs are humans just like the rest of us.  Rubinstein, had he not gone insane, might have become a WC as well.

I searched up his ELO rating today and it said "1937 standard". Just wow.

I don't think FIDE was set up in the era of Fischer.

sure i went mad and still became world champion

halogenic

Fischer went mad after he chickened out to defend his title against Karpov, not before he won the championship.

I like how fisher stated hes the best there ever was becuase he had teh highest rating ever so far. The funny part is that wasnt true. Paul Murphy had rating 2785 November, 1854

Only these people know Bobby's ELO rating. Perhaps a Shaman could put you in touch with them. Unfortunately there is no telephone number for them; they operate in a murky netherworld that's only known to the mystics.

Good luck with it. If you find his Elo please tell us. And tell Elvis "Is it like your Blue Hawaii movie?" up there.

He who is Genghis Khan comprehends quantum consciousness. He who trips over the yurt shall comprehend it more. If Genghis Khan tripped over the entrance of a yurt, would he:

a) Be an omniscient being

b) Be exiled to St Helena

c) Be an esoteric scholar

d) Dissipate and no longer exist

The correct answer is d), because it did indeed occur, and whether he tripped over the entrance or not, we can safely assume that he was in a superposition of quantum mechanical states. Such an assumption may have enticed people to select a) or c), but note what the question is asking. b) is plausible because he was alike Napoleon, but this does not fit in with quantum consciousness.

That was about half a century before Elo was born.

Has gaereagdag been here since 2013?

Never reproduce.

- Misspells both Fischer and Morphy, with "the" and "because" plus a couple of contractions thrown in for good measure.

- Compares actual Elo rating to estimated Elo rating adjusted for inflation...even worse since Fischer's adjusted rating is also available but went unused in favor of apples vs. oranges.

- Bumps thread from 2017.

As yet, funding has not been approved for DeLorean testing of such numbers. Steinitz died before Elo was born.

You don't need Elo alive to apply his method.

Yes, you can't compare different pools, but you still can compare players from the same historic pool.

1857-8 chess was somewhat different from later chess.

I think we just can agree that it doesn't make sense to speak of "the" Elo rating here and the answer to the OP is "depends on how you calculate it".
