i have a friend whos good at chess but he thinks hes bad at chess im trying to refer him to chess.com to boost his cofedence but he says he will just lose so he will not sign up. what should i do?

Well I'm married to somebody who can be a formidable player but feels she cannot deal with losing to "human" opponents.

If this is the problem in your case, you might encourage him by showing him all the training options or even the vs. Computer practice game options.

If this is more of a general confidence problem, you might want to start asking for help going over games you lost...and pretend to "not know" why you made the mistakes you did => This gives him a chance to chime in and this increases his comfort.  Obviously => Scale the games to a complexity that your friend has no problems with ... you don't want to scare him away with a tough game :)

What do you say to people who do not have the manners or guts to finish games they are loosing.....some one like you.

Encourage him - even if he doesn't play there are plenty of other things to do here.
