Nepo would be a good World Champion, I like him. At the same time it somehow feels right when the best player in the world is the World Champion. Nepo has only been top ten for a couple of years and never top three, and is older than Carlsen (even if only a few months) who was #1 for a dozen years already. Nepo doesn’t belong to the stronger challengers achievement wise, and all other World Champions since the first unofficial Elo list in 1967 were the #1 active player already before winning the title. But if Nepo wins it he of course deserves it, no idea about what is good for chess though.
