If she focuses on 'open' tournaments and not women's only ones she should get pretty close.
Will Hou Yifan pass Judit's peak rating?

Hou Yifan is the second best chess player in history and today being only 18 years old.
She's the current Woman Chess Champion and has 1618 rating.
Um... there are just so many things wrong with that.

@ macer75
Well you have to say more than that. If you are going to state that someone is incorrect then could you list (politely) a few facts to debunk the statement? Otherwise your comment will be ranked with such classics as
I'm rubber you're glue, your words bounce off me and stick to you… or
I know you are but what am I?
I look forward to your enlightenment, thank you.

If we knew whether Hou Yifan would pass Judit's peak rating do you think we would just tell people in a forum like this?

Alright, here's what I noticed:
1. "Hou Yifan is the second best chess player in history..."
Um... what? I think the OP meant to say "the second best female player in history." But still that is arguable, since there have been quite a few good female players before her, obviously, and it's difficult to compare players from different time periods.
2. "today being only 18 years old"
A relatively minor issue, but her birthday if Feb. 27, 1994, so she is now 19 years old.
3. "She's the current Woman Chess Champion and has 1618 rating."
The part about her being the Women's Chess Champion is right (and is the only factually correct statement in the first 2 lines. But how can the Women's Chess Champion, who also happens to be the "second best chess player in history," according to the OP, have a rating of 1618? he probably meant 2618, which is slightly inaccurate. As of now her official FIDE rating is 1609.

Thank you macer, I'm not up to date on the players so this truely was more helpful to me. I appreciate you taking the time to respond; I don't seem to be as lost in the discussion now.
Actually, she played Judith one time and did beat her. It would be interesting to see a match between these two to decide who will be the best player. Saying that, Judith may not have the motivation these days as when she was younger while Hou Yifan is younger and more motivated. Saying that, I still like Judith and admire what she has already achieved for woman's chess proving that women can compete and beat us guys. In a lot of ways she has paved the way, the acceptance for women to be able to compete in mens events.
I believe, that for Hou Yifan to get better, she needs to devote more time playing in men's events and not so much in women's events, and she may very well have the potential to be a 2700 player. Only time will tell.
No, she has a long way up to Polgar's 2735 and has made little rating progress the last five years.
Edit: checked it up and she was 2590 four and a half years ago and is 2609 on the latest list.
man i like how in british chess everyone knows everybody, like h4 that is a move Simon would play ;)

check. if she's not improving, where's that hardest 100 points going to come from?
by the way is that a perfect playable opening by polgar.
I know she probably knows what she is doing and it probably has much dynamic potential, but to an amateur all the pawns on light squares doesnt look right to be honest. I know its probably just a lack of my knowledge but it would be nice if someone could still educate me

The legend, judit Polgar, is the best woman in chess so far.Rating now: 2696.Peak 2735.
The ratings in chess are being inflated. She was, in 2003, the 10th in the world. Now the 52th in the world and Yifan isn't even between the first 100 players but did not loose in the recent world championship match...
