I know very little about chess variants, but today I discovered monster chess for the first time and it was a blast. What other fun variants are there without being overly complicated? lol I know this is a big question there’s probably lots
King of the Hill Chess,Rookchetto Chess (The placement of the Rooks and Bishops are switched and there is no castling),Torpedo Pawns where all pawns can move two steps at any time of their movement,Sideways pawn (Pawns can move sideways although they can't capture sideways).
one fun variant i've tried with a friend is playing like the queen is a bishop and the bishops are queens. if you make an illegal move (move a queen like a rook) you get 1 strike (2 strikes make you lose the game)
