Giga Dog Tournament

This tournament is open for everyone. It is a double elimination bulldog chess tournament

Rules:

The first 32 players to register gets to participate in the tournament. Just say "join" in this forum to enter.

The games will be bulldog chess with witch and guard. Rules for this variant can be found here. A more detailed explanation of the witch can be found here.

Games will be rated and follow the correspondence rules posted here.

This is a double elimination tournament, which means that a player remains in the tournament after the first loss, but is eliminated after the second loss. Players without losses will be in the winners bracket, while players with one loss will be in the losers bracket.

The winner in the winners bracket will play in a grand final against the winner in the losers bracket. The W Bracket champion needs to beat the L Bracket champion only once to win the tournament, while the L Bracket champion must beat the Winners' Bracket champion twice (this is because in double elimination players are eliminated after their second loss and if the W bracket champion loses one game it would be his first loss).

If a game ends in a draw, then the players will play a new game with reverse colors.

If a player loses by timeout in the first round they will be considered to have left the tournament and will not get paired for a new round.

After pairings have been posted a player will have 14 days to show up. Failing to show up within those 14 days may result in the game being lost by forfeit (however, the player should also receive a warning at least three days prior to the player losing by forfeit).

The top 8 highest rated players will get seeded and the rest randomized.

Colors will be picked mainly for even color distribution (aiming for players to have equally many white and black games).

The tournament will start after at least 32 players have registered or May 1. Some players may receive a bye in the first round.
