Has anyone tried Grant Acedrex?

'Grant Acedrex' or also known as "Grande Acedrex" is a medieval chess variant that originated in Spain. It is believed to have been played as early as the 11th century. The rules of Grande Acedrex are similar to modern chess, but there are some key differences. For example, Grande Acedrex has different pieces and movements, and the board has a different layout.
It is played on a 12x12 board and there are some fairy pieces like Crocodiles, Aanca, Unicornio, Lion and Giraffe.

I tried to play this variant on my mobile app (Chess Remix app gives you the chance to play a lot of chess variants) and on my laptop using Zillions of Games software. In my opinion, the variant is more dynamic than the standard chess and it requires a lot of attention because the Unicornio and the Aanca are brutal pieces that can easily destroy your army.

I would like to find more people who are interested in exploring this variant. For example, we could try to systemize some openings and basic strategy of the game. We can share our experience playing this variant against AI and probably we could play it in a correspondence way.

What do you think about this variant?

Interesting variant. I played it only once and yes, it's very dynamic! The board is huge but pawns start already advanced, as in Makruk but on a larger scale. Fairy pieces movements are intriguing, different from standard, more interesting compared to Courrier Chess and Gothic Chess in my opinion.
