king of the hill strategy

I've started playing koth variant, and I win a lot but i dont think it's because of actual strategy. they just take their king out and I do it too and use all my pieces to block the centre, and eventually all their pieces get stuck stopping me and I use the rest to get them into a corner or just checkmate when king is in front of pawns, so it's just all my opponents take their king out in a not strong way...is there any strategy I should know to help do properly well in koth?

Seems strategy just get the king to the middle 👑😎,
But maybe exchange pieces off so that it makes the journey easier instead of blocking up the middle, could be an idea as less pieces the easier.
