Rooks shoot to capture figures instead of having to move. Knights stun a figure they jump over...maybe this one would be too stronk.
Having an extra move based on some action (could be like a combination of your action with your opponents atcion) could be cool, but you can't move the same figure using that extra move...
Hi, I am Ivica Škrobo. Game developer with 2+ years of experience. I got 2 games on the play store released and a great coach behind me that can push me to make something better. One of the games from my portfolio is Ninja Skidoshi : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.SynonymGames.NinjaSkidoshi&hl=hr&gl=US.
My coach is Dan Mckinnon a professional developer with 10+ years of experience, worked on Mario Kart Ride (mixed reality project), and worked with Shigeru Miyamoto.
I am thinking about creating a Magic chess game, where you would pick some power before the game starts. For example, your pawns leave a trail of fire for one turn or a bishop that can freeze a figure in its path without needing to capture it. There would be balance, as you wouldn't be able to use your powers each turn. Depending on the strength of the power it would have a cooldown.
So basically chess but with extra powers.
How do you feel about it? If you have any ideas feel free to hit me with them
