Repost these rules to The Acropolis which is the natural home of chess variants in New Athens. Rouse some interest there and you me get yourself a few games going to field test these rules if you haven't already.
Prince & Princess Variant

Mac - Would you like to try it out? Do you have a partner already or would someone like to volunteer?

No! Not my c pawn. :'(
Damn you, Damn you to hell!!!!!
Seriously, actually sounds like an interesting variant.
I made a neat little chess variant the other day, and I'd like to know what you guys think.
Prince: Starts on the square in front of the Queen's Bishop (instead of the c pawn). On his first move, the Prince may only move the way a King does. After that, he may move as a King or a Knight. If your Prince is still on the board when you are mated, the King is still placed down (without actually needing to be captured) but the game is not over - the Prince becomes the King. This means his attacking power is weakened since he can no longer move as a Knight (or you can have him maintain his power if you want), but the game goes on.
Princess: Starts on the square in front of the King's Bishop. She moves like a weak Queen (or a strong King, however you want to look at it), with a range of only 2 (or 3 if you want) squares at a time forward, backward, sideways, or diagonally. Similar to the Prince, her first move is restricted to only 1 square. If your Queen is captured, she becomes the new Queen (complete with Queenly strength) so watch out! Don't capture your opponent's Queen only to put yourself into a forced mate situation.
Obviously this changes the game in many ways. Let me know if you need anything clarified or want to discuss this variant.
