I thought about that too, but didn't know if people would consider that too easy. I definitely want to try out both options and see what feels most balanced. I'm going to see if I can create this variant on a website to test it out.
I wanted to share a simple chess variant rule that allows a new way to win. In addition to checkmate, you can win by moving your King into the opponent's original King square (e1 or e8).
Every other standard rule remains the same. You couldn't win by moving into that square if it puts your King in Check, at least I don't think that would make sense.
I think this twist adds a fun extra dynamic to the game and I want to try it out in person soon. I don't know if there's a way to enable this in the Chess.com variant rules.
What do you think? I was partially inspired from "king me!" in Checkers and thinking of that square as the King's "palace" similar to Xiangqi.
