Chess 960 and ratings

i'm just wondering guys, whats the thinking on whether playing chess960 has any negative effects on one's classical chess skillset? Apart from the obvious if not documented, potential drawbacks from playing "blitz" type matches under enormous time pressure/
/ps and just in general, is a big part of chess960;-the time pressure? or is it also exactly the same as for chess?

@jmz_freud:
Actually we can't play blitz or standard live 960 yet so not much time pressure in correspondence ("online"). I've played exactly one game, so no expert here, but I would think that the need to come up with a plan to suit the position is a plus. Standard openings you can almost play on autopilot if you're experienced, but 960 makes you think about what you're doing from the very start. For me regular chess is challenging enough, but some folks really like that 960 bypasses theory and makes you play chess on your own.

I think that the tactics and the positional concepts are the same as regular chess. A rook +pawn end game is the same no matter the starting position. But as previously stated, opening theory wide open, no 27 moves into the Ruy Lopez to memorize. Standard opening theory still works though, develop your pieces don't overextend your pawns, control the center ,,etc. Castling can be tricky as king and took will occupy the same spots as regular chess,after you castle, regardless of where they start.
How does a person play chess 960 on this site? Is it just for premium members or something?
Also on a different matter, after I play a game and download the pgn it has the NEW rating of the players in the title. Isn't this false? Shouldn't it be the rating the players had before and during the game in the title? Thanks!
