"Super Knight" can move like this ->

How much is it worth compared to the queen?

Who made the graphics for that piece? It's pretty nice, especially considered it is made of all curved lines. Very good work! I also like the idea of rook+knight+king compound. Easy to learn and use it in a game.happy.png

On the Kaufman scale, where Q=9.5, R=5, minor=3.25, this piece would be worth ~10.5. A R+K compound is known to be worth 7, an Amazon (Q+N) to be worth 13.75, and a Chancellor (R+N) to be worth 9. There seems to be little synergy when pieces already this strong acquire more moves. What probably also depresses the value is that you concentrate all liability in a single piece. Having separate Q and N allows you to sac the N to break things open, and use the Q to finish it off. You cannot do that with an Amazon. So combining a high with a low piece gives in general less synergy than combining two intermediate pieces (both too expensive to sacrifice).

I do like variant chess-pieces that are a blend of traditional chess pieces. They're easy to learn. Zied and his team are driving me nuts with his chess pieces which are a blend of non-traditional and traditional pieces. Like the griffon and Musketeer hawk: meh.png

Falcon = (bishop + hawk)
Griffin = (archbishop + hawk) = (bishop + knight + hawk) happy.png

Why are the chess variants creators using such corny names? Super Knight, Dragon, etc.

Hi

unfortunately, there is no consensus and a piece with the same rules can have many different names.

globally when it comes to Musketeer Chess Pieces i tried to stick to names easy to remember and reminding of the pieces.

Hope at least you like the piece design. If you have any suggestion for names don’t hesitate.

This piece is stronger than a Queen (because the Empress can draw with a Queen and this piece is Empress+Ferz or Shogi Dragon King + Knight) but it lose the Amazon (Queen + Knight)
