Minecraft chess

Together with the minecraft expert in my family I’ve started working out how minecraft figures come into chess. Feel free to add more suggestions.

Tamed wolf

The tamed wolf can move (and capture) one or two squares orth. or diag. without jumping. On top of that, when you move with another piece, you are allowed to put the tamed wolf on any empty square next to that other piece – as part of the same move.

Creeper

Moves like a king. Does not capture but can be captured. Instead of moving it can explode, thus killing each adjacent piece of any color. The creeper survives this explosion unlike real Minecraft – that appeared to be more fun.

Magma cube

Moves (and captures) one up to five squares orth. or diag. Can always jump if it intends to move, cannot jump if it intends to capture.

When captured, it splits into 4 small magma cubes. The procedure to place these is still being worked out.

Small magma cube

Moves (and captures) like a king.

I had already the chess pieces compounded from eight blocks (the red, green, blue and white 2x2 Lego primitives on the gray waffer): first floor - up to four blocks and second floor - also up to four blocks. That's a nice idea for children but psychologically inconvenient for chessplayers.

The gate

The gate (represented by a draughts piece) steps 1 square diagonally or orthogonally. Each player has two or more gates.

The gate cannot capture nor can be captured by another piece.

Any piece looking at a friendly gate, can move to a vacant square adjacent to another friendly gate. (But a gate cannot use another gate this way.)

It should be possible to spawn new pieces:
Instead of doing a move, one can put a Draughts stone on the board. Subsequently, one can put a 2nd, and a 3rd and so on, on top of it. Or one can start a new stack on a different square, but always at the cost of one move per Draught Stone.
Some number of Draughts stones stacked on one square can be replaced by a piece, again at the cost of one move. And a stronger piece should require a higher stack of Draughts stones - as to be at the cost of more moves.
Your Draught stones are initially available for you, 'in hand', in a limited number. Once on the board, your Draught stone or stack of Draught Stones cannot move, and are vulnerable: if your stack of Draught stones is captured, these stones are lost for the rest of the game. If you successfully spawned a new piece, the involved Draught stones come back in your hand.
