Got it. In order to work--when inputting the PGN, the following must be inputted:
[Date "????.??.??"]
[Result "*"]
[FEN "rnbqkbnr/pppppppp/8/8/8/8/2PPPP2/4K3 w KQkq - 0 1"]
After which, just start putting in the moves. For Black, you will have to make occasional repeat moves (2. ... h5 3. ... h5) or moves that simply don't move any pieces (1. ... Bcc8).
Monster chess has white starting out with the four middle pawns and his king only. Black gets all his pieces. Here's the thing--white gets to move twice per move, black only once. The other rules are the same but this means that if the black queen puts the king in check on the edge of the board and the black queen is protected, the white king can then actually take her and then move off the attacked square. So I'm hoping I can put a game of monster chess into PGN format here. I don't know if this is possible...
