One of the big differences between Chess and Chinese Chess is the non-facing rule. Here is a good example.
The Pawn(P) is checking the Black K( General ). K cannot move to C because of the non-facing rule: a K cannot move to a file already dominated by the opposing K. ( in this case the fifth file, orange line ) If the Black K takes P , then the Rook check at A is mate. The K can only escape to D and then R moves to B checkmate.
