What is centaur chess

i have heard many people say centaur chess but i don't know what is it. can someone explain to me?
On this site, it is called cheating.

Half king, half knight. It's worth more than a rook.
Probably only by a slight.
^This, funny enough, is actually a piece found in the "Alpha-Omega" Chess variant. Check out Acer569's thread: http://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess960-chess-variants/new-chess-variant-looking-for-players-to-play-with
(Just to clarify to others, though, this piece isn't a part of Centaur Chess, which name only refers to "half human, half computer".)
