I have a question, my question is in clubs why do people use notes to talk instead of chat.

My guess is that people use notes as a group chat without privacy requirements.

Notes provide alerts, for those members that turn them off and chat doesn't. Depending on the club, they may only want more meaningful posts in notes and to keep chat for less important stuff.
