[I have posted this in the official club 'Club Admins'. Then I felt I need to raise the issue to a bigger audience.]
Club chats are very ineffective. In comparison with chatrooms around the web, the club-chat is slightly better than garbage. So big changes need to be made to chat.
I have observed that if a user is online on the site, he/she is shown online in the chats of every club. Rather if a member is online in a club, only then he should be shown online.
In the play option of this site, if I open the same feature in another tab, the previous instance gets disrupted. Similarly, if multiple clubs are open in multiple tabs, then only the last club chat would be active.
Then there is no ping sound when someone else chats. This should be fixed as well.
Another feature that can be added is, create a symbol or display the number of chats unread beside the chat option of the club, like that in discord.
Ineffectiveness of the chat feature is a main cause of abusing the 'notes' feature. I have suggested this in the past, and am suggesting it again.
Chess players are human too and they need to chat about random things with like minded people.
