7 Deadly Sins

Never use perpetual check as an escape when you're one move away from mate.
Never refuse a friend request from someone you don't know from Adam.

Interesting that chess.com imposes no limits on the number of friend requests you can accept, nor on the number of group membership offers you can take up. It does, fortunately, prevent you from accepting ALL tournament invitations that arrive.

Consider this, if the opponent really wants to show disregard that individual would not use "gg" because of its positive denotation associated with the term. Instead they might use "fu" (fu = #$*@!#^!* for those of you who don't know) to make sure the person they played understands there was malicious/bitterness involved during the game.
How about switching to an unambiguous term like "fo" = "friendly opponent".

Slightly off topic; "friendly opponent" is an oxymoron.

However, if anyone does wish to talk, I don't mind replying to them. admits to #4
I have played some games which are extremely lame, new, unumbered 'sin'
I do encourage my opponent and tell them to keep on playing. So I dont mind saying "You have good potential, keep on playing" #4 again So I occasionally do say Good Game. admits to #7 - possibly #6.
Those are the only 'sins' I have committed :D
Are you sure you haven't got either #1 or #2 on your conscience?
I'm not singling anyone out. The only members who have possibly not transgressed are non-playing ones.
Lol artfizz, Spare him a trip to heaven.

Are you friend or fo?

#28. Posting in the forums - {especially on any of the 'dead horse' topics ('cheating', 'slow play' or 'refusing to resign' or 'not chatting')
AND
#38 Attempting to revive your own thread that's been dead for three months
BUT ALSO
"thread bumping of ancient threads; seriously, just make a new one"
WHILST NOT FORGETTING
"lack of tidiness; too many useless topics floating about."

the whole gg thing in beginning to be used in online chess like the f-bomb. It has so many nuances that you do not know the real meaning anymore...... Was it a complement or said with great sarcasm? How differently do you interpret the meaning when said by the winner instead of the loser? How about if the game was won/lost on a major blunder?
If it is said in the middle of a game, perhaps it does not mean "good game" at all. Maybe it means "good gambit". Perhaps the person just realized a gamechanging move and is uttering gg under one's breath as an exclaimation like "great googellymoogelly","great gadzooks" or merely the prim, polite "goodness gracious" or "golly gee". Perhaps the individual is religious and is saying "good G-d"...... or possibly a heathen, in which case they are saying the same thing with biting cynicism. If "gg" is being said to a female it could be interpreted as "go girl!" Maybe a younger player annoyed at the slow play of an older person is actually saying "go geezer!"
"gg" has not only become trite, it has become meaningless to the recipient. For many, it has gotten so annoying to hear the term used, there is a reported backlash! It is being said, that many incessant users of the "gg" are becoming victims of ridicule! Despite being intended as a nice gesture (so they claim) to their opponent, they are now getting responses like "that was about as original as your game a-hole!", "don't patronize me you SOB!", and even worse things that I will refrain from writing here.
In short...... lets drop the term "gg". It has clearly become at least foolish if not an actual deadly sin!
I really enjoyed reading this. I truly liked "go geezer", because that would apply to me.

I have to disagree with your comment. Originally "gg" was online shorthand for "giggle". It appears that the chess community has adopted this shorthand to also say "good game".
I believe most people here use "gg" in chess games as a means of respect / a means to convey acknowledgement (an expression of appreciation) or just a thank you to the opponent for playing. Sometimes "gg" is used to signal and leaving with less hostile feelings (if any).
While you are right that "gg" can mean anything... the general concept still holds: your opponent does not want any animosity for winning/losing the games played and that the games were -friendly- .
Consider this, if the opponent really wants to show disregard that individual would not use "gg" because of its positive denotation associated with the term.
