Abuse in the chat

While playing one of my matches, I came across this player . While losing, he commented " I hate when playing against filthy indians" and "f*ck you". I am requesting the chess.com community to help me take actions against such abusers and censor at least such recognised abuses. I felt hurt that a person whom I have done no wrong abuses my country like this.

[Mod Edit: naming and shaming is against site policy]

You were right in reporting this to the admins and they will take necessary action.

You are however wrong in publicly naming out people who abuse or cheat ... the forum's rules specifically forbid this ... so while I get that you need to get it off your chest (it is definitely therapeutic to shame somebody publicly) ,  I'd recommend dealing with the admins only.

Why share the name of the user? I think it's too shameful. :(

I prefer you to disabled chat when playing.

Big fkin' deal. I totally approve filthy language in our chat discussions, although I hate racists and racism. It is in human nature to streettalk so let's not pretend. I wish there were no admins at all on chess.com. So my dear friend, next time just counterattack and tell him just how desirable his Serbian mother is to you. Cheers!

I am truly sorry for the behavior of some of this yahoo crowd. Some people are just jerks.  Don't give them an audience for their antics and they will dissolve in their own bile.  Disable their chat or beat them again.  Success is the best retribution.  Take pleasure in their frusration.  Continue to be honorable yourself no matter what.   Your standards are what is important.  I'm on your side in this.

Most youngsters find losing at games hard to take.  Happily not many react so unpleasantly as this one.

From my short experience here, the site admin seem very active in addressing this sort of thing.  So if s/he has done this sort of thing before, or when they do it again, you may see their handle disappear from the site.

If it was a team India match you might also report what happened to the admin of the group your opponent was playing for. I doubt they would want such a person representing them.  Or contact one of your own admin and ask them to take it up with one of their opposite numbers.

that is not a good idea

A player is susposed to disable the chat because someone might use abusive language? Does that really make sense?

my we woke up on the wrong side of the bed.....Here's a clue unless your face to face( options are different, i.e .a bloody nose shuts up most nuts) u are getting upset by a p.c. screen. Bad lanquage , threats, racial comments, all this comes from fear and or stupidity---why react or feel bad because someone else has problems ?

I have also had racist abuse from a player during chat.  Please could someone tell me how I can report it to admin.  I cannot find how to do this on my screen.  many thanks.

From within live chess, click top right where it shows 'Help'

(from other areas of the site its at the bottom of the page)

Right side of the Help page shows a 'Contact Us' option that allows you to submit a ticket to support staff.

If I have to disable chat just to avoid the possibility that a player maybe using abusive langage during a game, that is complete non sense!

I was insulted at least 4 or 5 times ever since I joined this site. I have used other paid online chess services where users were banned from the service for such behaviors. I have yet to see chess.com do the same. Especially when there are repeat offenders!
