I have been looking for a chess club in my area, however I haven't been able to find any.  if someone could find a chess club in, or near Grand Rapids Michigan for teens it would be extremely helpful.

It also talks about a scholastic club called Castle Defenders Chess that meets Tuesday afternoons in Wyoming, which is a suburb of Grand Rapids. http://www.castledefenderschess.com/castle-defenders-chess-club.html

Found this: http://ww2.michess.org/Lists/ChessClubs/DispForm.aspx?ID=1and this http://chesswizards.com/site/location/view/grand-rapids-metro in terms of chess clubs, but I'm with @notmtwain on the tournament thing. According to the site there isn't anything that says only students of that college can attend. I've been to several chess tourneys that take place in colleges that kids of all ages attended. It taking place at a college doesn't usually mean that only that college's students are allowed to come, just like a tourney taking place at a high school isn't solely for that school's students.

1.  Check USCF website and find the club/affiliates section.

2. While there search for the Michigan State Chess Association.

3. Join the Team Michigan club on chess.com and ask around.

4. Go to the Calvin tournament and play or just ask around.  That tourney appears to be open to all but it is probably not a club.  Many colleges host tourneys/chess camps during the summer months and are usually open to all.
