Anyone in Boston play chess?

Hey, I'm a student at Northeastern and I like playing chess in person, anyone feel like meeting up somewhere and playing a game?

mercytononeZ

not too safe.........

I didn't say meeting up in a back alley at midnight, there's plenty of public places in Boston you could meet and play chess in, I'm just sick of playing online all the time.

mercytononeZ

i understand, but i just dont think many people would meet up with a stranger they've never heard of or seen before. :)

yeah, I know, but I've been trying to get into a conversation with someone that I'm playing and so far three have said they'd be willing to do that if they lived near Boston, so I figure I'd start with location this time, I doubt it works, but it'd be nice if it did, I might just start a chess club at northeastern, that might be easier

mercytononeZ

yea it would :)

It's been many years since my college days in Boston, but I know that my alma mater (fairly convenient to Northeastern) has a fair-sized chess club that has both regular meetings and tournaments.

However, my alma mater is Hockey East rival Boston University, and you may feel intimidated by all our Beanpot excellence. But if you can shield your eyes against the blaze of Terrier glory, I'm sure you'd be welcome. See http://buchess.org/

On a somewhat less tongue-in-cheek note, if you want to schlep yourself out to Somerville (be sure to visit Harry Nelson Pillsbury's grave while you're there), you can visit the Boylston Chess Club ( http://www.boylstonchessclub.org/ ), which as soon as tomorrow has a set of Rapid (G/30) quads.

I know about harvard square, but I'd like to find someone a little closer to Northeastern since my class schedule takes up my day and weekends can get busy, thank you though

I'll stop by, though I have to say, the day a husky has to shield it's eyes from a terrier is a day i have yet to see

I thought about Somerville, but the schleping didn't seem worth it, thank you for the suggestions though, I'll check BU out
