are premium memberships worth it?

If so, which one is best?

You have been a member for several months and have played a bunch of games, done a bunch of puzzles and taken some lessons.

You would know if you find yourself wanting to do a lot more and what you want to do.

I see you forfeited a lot of daily games. That wouldn't happen if you had any membership.

I really like the Game Reviews and want to run them after every game.

How about you?

gold - unlimited game analysis

platinum - gold + unlimited puzzles

diamond - platinum + unlimited lessons

I, as a diamond member, have watched a few videos so far. You feel curious at first but it's not that practical watch and learn new things everyday.

I don't do many puzzles but i feel like i should do..

Game analyze, not using after everygame. probably because that 's why i'm still 1300~

In terms of none of the site being locked down, it's completely worth it. I like that every section is an open door. It's ultimately not a question of value, however. The premium memberships pay for a lot of things that we take for granted that the chess world would miss otherwise, such as legal fees and prize money. Well... not the entire chess world. Just a couple GMs. [running/ducking]

New gold plans don't have unlimited Game Reviews. Unlimited puzzles and lessons are included now. Platinum adds unlimited Game Review.

Diamond adds move explanation, Insights, and the option of depth 30 reviews.

There's a few more minor differences (such as daily tournament organization limits).

All the new plans now some with the full video library as well.

oh i see, never noticed those were changed.

it's good to have unlimited puzzles and lessons on gold in my opinion.

For me, as a gold user, I think gold is the best becuse the analysis's are key. I would skip plat if I would upgrade. I think diamond is only good for it's insights.

I think given your rating(s), it would be worth it.  The game analysis is a great tool for anybody under, say, 1500, and the puzzles and lessons that they recommend at the bottom of the game review is particularly valuable.  Everybody asks, "what do I need to do to get better?"  Well, the game analysis is telling you what to do, and gives you the means to do it.

I'm a huge fan of doing puzzles to improve your game, and in particular, to improve your calculation speed.

There are features nobody talks about.  One that I like is the "Practice" tool in the "Learn" tab.  You play the computer, and it tells you immediately how good your move was.  It also takes you to lessons on the openings directly, so you can learn an opening, then practice the opening, watch the tutorial again, practice again.  It's awesome.

I think if people under 21 switched from Call of Duty (or whatever) to chess, this site would get them to over 2000 USCF in less than two years.

I like it for the game reviews alone!

It depends on how much you use CC. You can make real use of the puzzles and videos.

If you don't use it much though better not to get it

I think the only reason you must pay is because the chess.com give me with the chess a n interesting and amazing game……with the gold membership I give them back.

I think it’s worth it for the puzzles alone. If I have a couple of spare minutes waiting for the bus or something I can do a few puzzles. The game reviews are useful and I like the UI, but tbh you can get the same analysis (minus the coach explanations) for free on other sites.

There is just something nice about this site.

I wonder how many people would play all of the bots in rating order...
