Fischer defense. A Bust to the King's Gambit. Danny should prep for the next of these games (perhaps on Chess Improv?) And for fun, anyone can look up the one game Bobby Fischer actually played in the Fischer Defense--he was white. Someone in a simul played it against him. Fun game to watch.
"BLUNDERS"- Dec 1 - BONUS Wrap-Up

One thing I can say is it's ALways a treat watching these guys play, regardless of who wins or loses. And it's also a highlight when people like Hammer show up during a show and there's a spontaneous game. There lots to learn on these shows, and fun at the same time! Love it!

Danny definitely needs to prep. i should perhaps just refuse to play until he does...
although in the end the chants of the crowd are usually irresistible.

David, we know you love to show off the King's Gambit. Just say you're studying the blitz games that have been around lately with all those white wins!

David, Danny needs to be glued down to a chair, sitting in front of a hot police lamp with Chessbase on the computer in front of him and studying only a database of King's Gambit games. I think then, eventually he'll do some prep work. Either that or get a bad sun burn and very dehydrated.

me studying the king's gambit more won't make things any fairer :-P
Mark, i think Danny probably has more important things to do than study the king's gambit, and we should probably call off this series of games and switch to some other openings for our banter games (much as it is true that i like to show off the king's gambit).

David I agree on that, if you guys are going to be playing at the end of each PoB show, 2 things need to happen:
1) Danny can't guarantee wins anymore
2) and new opening's need to be played. Maybe ask the audience or do a poll when you guys play so the chat room can decide on what openings you guys do.
Just an idea
-Mark

oh 2) would be very fun! would love to have the audience pick our first few moves.
and i also agree on 1) it would be nice if he wouldn't always guarantee a win... somehow it pisses me off and then i get mean. i don't want to be mean!!

Nope. Then what David? Hulk Pruess??
-Mark
EDIT: Yeah the chat audience should pick the opening you guys play, it would make them feel even more a part of the show

I am gonna guarantee victory for next week ... Remember what I said, I am an entertainer first, chess professional second!!!

Try letting the audience pick the openings you guys will play, I think that would be a great thing to see. Who knows where the game will go from there. Since David likes that idea, I'm seconding his second

Pardon Our Blunders Show Review: Dec. 1, 2010

Welcome to the weekly review of Pardon Our Blunders. Every week our Hosts cover varied topics—all chess-related. As regular viewers know, their coverage normally leads to some very interesting and entertaining banter. And now for the Wrap-Up:
This week’s Blunder of the Week:
Goes to a N.Y. Times reporter for uncovering an internal document claiming that Turkey, the site of the 2012 Chess Olympiad, bribed officials to have the Olympiad in their country. I am including the link for this article so you can look at this yourself.
Finally, Danny and David, once again, played a King’s Gambit theme blitz game. And Danny, as usual, guaranteed victory once again. David asked him if he prepped for a week and Danny said he doesn't prep for much of anything anymore. So during this game (PGN below), Danny was mostly talking trash with non-stop chit-chatting while David was quiet and analyzing the positions at different points during the game. And yes, the result was the same: Danny flagged and is now 0 for 2 on his guarantees. Joe Namath or Mark Messier he is not
. It's simply not in Danny's nature to give this kind of game his full concentration--not while On-Air. Here is the game:
That wraps up another recap of Pardon Our Blunders. Make sure to watch Friday’s show: Chess Improv by Danny Rensch at 10 AM Pacific (GMT – 8).
