I have had lags of 12-20 seconds on the first move....sometimes longer and the game is aborted. So it is definately not just you.
chess.com lag on first move

I've also been having a 5-10 second freeze after making the first move. It seems to happen once per day, always on the first game of the day.

That lag also exists for me. Now is better, until the last week I had +5 - 15s lag at my first game after opening the chess.com app , and it was making my games aborted. Now, it's better and under 1s lag.

I've noticed a similar thing where my move takes 1-2 seconds to register on my computer after I drag the piece to the target square. But I still only lose 0.1 seconds on my clock. It's just a little bit annoyng.

No solution for this so far?
No solution, that I've found. I have found that if I wait on the screen that shows the chess board for about 20 seconds before I hit "play", then I won't have but a tiny bit of lag.
I've found no solution, but you might want to check your console for errors.
Not really a soolution for regular users. But chesscom is busy making cringe videos so it is understandable that they wont be fixing it anytime soon

Yes, there is a solution (at least there was for me). I had exactly the same problem until I tried a different browser. With Google Chrome the problem occurred constantly (no idea why) and it disappeared abruptly when I opened chess.com with Edge. Maybe other browsers would have done it too, I left it at the one try.

The same thing is happening for me. Not only does it lag the browser, it also makes some pages refuse to load afterwards. In addition, when I close the browser there are still 2 chrome.exe processes in the processes that won't close with the browser. If I close them myself then everything works fine afterwards. Well, chess.com in a nutshell.
Hey, I'm wondering if anyone else had this same problem. Recently (I've never had this before),
there's like a 1-3 second input lag on the first move I make on almost every game. This gets super annoying especially in bullet games where those lost seconds can cost you the game. I've tried clearing the cache (I'm using chrome) but nothing seems to fix the issue.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it on chess.com's side?
