Chess.com's New Open Source Browser Extension

Hey @playerafar I was curious about that extension!
Lemme know if it's great!
i removed it to try to counter v3 slowness

@gambit-man did it work?
I have ping problems but it's due to my connection.
It'd be good to have some kind of proxy to ameliorate connection but idk how these things work.

did it work? - do you mean did it resolve the speed issues?
No, unfortunately... but if like me you find the v3 white background glary, you can change the colour scheme to dumb that down.
I read somewhere that some speed issues were caused by browser extensions, i only had two, Adblock and the chess.com extensions. I whitelisted this site in Adblock and removed the chess.com one altogether, but it hasn't resolved speed and connection issues at all.
It won't hurt to give it a try, but it may take a while to find a suitable colour scheme

Thanks @gambit-man.
Yea this bright white is somehow tiring to the eye. I always prefer dark backgrounds.
I'd also like to make it transparent. Be there any way of doing so with the extension, it would be ideal.

A friend of mine said that AdBlock is really heavy.
I don't know about that but he told me to test another one.
Can't recall the name, though.
But I've never really felt any big difference deactivating AdBlock.

i settled for a mid-grey background since some parts of the site use black text and some parts use white. It wasn't ideal but it did cut the glare... with a bit of messing around you might find something easier on your eye

In addition to Chess.com’s other big announcements today (new site launched and bughouse), we are also launching our first beta version of the open source browser extension! The goal is to allow any developer to add new features and customization to Chess.com, beyond what is done on the main site (for power users, etc). Sorry for the ugly screenshot - just showing you what can be done!
You can see the extension here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chess-browser-extension/fcfojodfingmafbdmlekaaoogcfpjegg
And join the GitHub project here: https://github.com/ChessCom/browser-extension
A big thanks to the developers, and to you, Chess.com community, for your support!
Is this extension available for Android?
Good thing this Forum was here.
I couldn't get the chess.com browser extension to work.
But somebody said "little button". Then I spotted it.
A little green pawn symbol at the top right.
I'm using Vivaldi ... but since its a Chrome variant - it seems to have accepted it.
Now to see what it can do. I'm hoping it will change the color of these scratchy white panels -
that we read and type on. But that's optimistic ....
