Chess.com support not responding and I'm curious

Guys its been 3 days that chess.com support didn't respond and I'm getting curious. I want to change my name and the name that I want to change is available rn. And I already used my rename once. So... Will they. Change my name?

Abhinav

I'm sure they'll get back to you sooner or later. With the site seeing rapid growth in members in recent times, I guess the support is swamped with work too.

If your requested username is available, they'll definitely change it for you.

Thay gave up on everything as i see. I once wanted to appeal some random autoban on forum that happened for literally no reason, but... it just ended before i got any reply lol.

Ingame reports managing is also completely abandoned as far as i see.

Looks like they are more busy providing superhuman socially abusive features for youtubers that praise them.

@monisjustbetter, you just started playing live chess this month.  You may not have heard that chess.com experienced major server problems in January and February.

At any rate, support has been very busy handling the thousands of complaints that arose during the January and February 502 error period.

While the server issues seem to have improved,  there is still a large backlog of user support requests for support personnel to work through.

If you make a support request at this time, you have to understand that it will not be answered in a business day or two, which is their usual standard.  (No, they don't work 24/7.)

You can look through the monthly reports to track the number of support requests received and the average time to first response. (Not the automatically generated response but a real response by a support agent.)

As of the end of January, the average was up to 53 hours.   I would guess that number would have at least doubled by the end of February. During the first surge at the start of Covid in 2020, the average slowed to longer than 10 days.

/  Edit:  https://www.chess.com/article/view/chesscom-update-february-2023  the average went up to "Longer than usual".

//  The message is to please remain patient, they will get to your requests for help.   They have hired additional personnel, who are in training.

/// Meanwhile, your username isn't bad at all.

@1337progamerjkeeeeee, they haven't abandoned anything but as I said above,  they were swamped after the problems in January and February and are still digging their way out.

The autobans can be frustrating.  I have experienced them myself.  There are some words which have innocent connotations and less innocent connotations.  You are correct that appealiing them can take longer than just riding them out.

What are In-game reports?  You report players during the game and expect them to ban your opponent immediately?  Are you talking about daily games?

I don't know what you are talking about with regard to the YouTubers.

Even last year, it’s the worst support I’ve ever seen

If you read the report I linked above,  they handled more than 63,000 support requests last month.

According to the About link, there are currently around 40 people working various aspects of support.   That works out to around 1600 responses per person.   Some of them are easy but others are quite involved.  That seems like a lot to handle.

They are all working extremely hard and would appreciate your patience.

Yeah sorry for a bit of offensiveness i usually get emotionally driven when meet something concerning though sure my specific impersonal points are legit. So.

About ingame reports, i base it on a fact that in past, like 6-10 months ago, i for sure had much higher approval autoreplies than now. I do not expect anything immediate of course but i somehow assume that they don't get former attention. I maybe wrong but it is as it is.

About youtube, for example, there is a clear fact that gothamchess can force a game with a player unrelated of players actions, and can force a match of two players against each other, and that functionality is provided to the likes of him by your crew. THAT IS HIGHLY ABUSIVE AND VIOLATES PERSONAL WILL (at bare minimum; there also are some socially destructive follow-ups that are not so obvious). Also it is a known fact that he sometimes plays from low ranked accounts against random players, what straight up violates website rules. But everyone ignores all of that because it is 'fun' to watch a torture.

About automod, thanks for sharing this, hope it will be tweaked one day.

If they were an ethical company they would put new members on a waitlist until they had sufficient customer support and technical capabilities in place to handle the growth.

Instead, they’d rather force people to lose games unfairly due to an overloaded servers timing out and behaving erratically. They would rather ignore customer support requests indefinitely.

This is just the short term pain which they’ve decided will be more lucrative in the end than a wait list. Two years from now they’ll write a learning-from-our-past-mistakes pseudo apology and then enjoy the profits of their online chess monopoly.

In short, they don’t care about customers who complain or act needy right now because they’ve got more than enough replacements; in fact, they’d be more grateful if anyone upset about losing unfairly would just stop asking for any support and simply quit the site.

Did you read the earlier posts in the thread?

Because of the surge in usage at the year end and the resulting server overload problems in January, there was a huge jump in the volume of support requests. Despite the fact that more than 63,000 user support requests were handled last month, they still have a formidable backlog of support requests to work through.

They will get to yours. In the meantime, is there something some other user or moderator might be able to help you with?
