Boy; You've got something good to say about everything, and everybody don't cha kid??
Chess site or dating site?

hmm i wouldn't think so, though some players don't do anything chess.com is not the place to have that kind of stuff

Ever been to Spain, Portugal, Italy, or the South of France? There are literally armies of Senegalese prostitutes swarming all around Mediterranean Europe these days, especially around Barcelona.
It's basically a melee of African whores, running riot all over the place. My metaphor about a beseiging army is not inapt. Anyone that's been there can attest to this.
The situation is much like the massive battle scenes from the "Lord of the Rings" movies, except with Senegalese whores.
Thanks for the vacation idea!
Well, I thought you were just paranoid . . . but when I looked at it, that DOES seem pretty fishy. I suppose she may have been interested in one of your games? But it looks more likely that she wants to e-mail you a virus or something.

Unfortunately these ladies who have not played a game of chess are after one thing and its called a 419 scam. These ladies normally don't exist and soon they will ask you for money by western union etc to fly out to see you. I get them on my poker account and just advise staff or administration.
Sorry to disappoint you, 95% of these scams are from Senegal, Nigeria, Ivory Coast etc. pls google 419 scam+dating and you will see lots of examples of men in Internet cafes posing as ladies just wanting your money.

Sad to hear about that, the internet seems to be a great magnant for scams. Even Chess.com isn't safe.

I got a security warning today that should be listed for everyone. In the next couple of weeks, our attention will be on the Superbowl, and worldwide, the olympics. What better time for computer scamers to hit, when our attention is focused on something else.

Are you talking about Mate_For_Life?? Last night Marie_Abraxzas was deleted. She claimed to be from Brazil.

Yes and to report anything that seems strange or out of place. Who could we report if things are not right concerning the internet?

Yeah I can see something happening during the Super Bowl. I'm a PhD post grad in computing and my advise to you all is to avoid hotel wifi and buy a dongle for your laptop. Never use someone's wifi unless you know the person or the company. A lot of super high poker players had their computers hacked at nearly every poketstars sponsored EPT tournaments around Europe and in their sponsored Caribbean PCA. There are a lot of very angry high profile poker players outing pokerstars.coms bad security. If your a big shot excellent chess player too and you make decent money in some competitions then use one spare laptop when staying at a hotel where a tournaments taking place. If you can afford it then by a broadband dongle and then throw the laptop and dongle after use. It happens now in poker where a few comments have let themselves In to poker players hotel rooms sponsored by pokerstars and bypass the password and stick a Trojan horse on your laptop for reading hole cards at a later date. There's a lot of angry high stakes players in the last 3 months. Also try to keep passwords different for various apps and log on passwords as data key logging software hiding in your computers memory makes a full screen copy after every key pressed and passes the Info to the hacker who then tried to use the same password on some of your online banking apps. So be careful and be aware your laptop is not safe unless you have your own broadband dongle and lock your laptop up or put it in to the hotels safe when leaving your room.
Regards and good luck to you all.

Its a dating site, duh, its called chess.com, who wouldn't understand that it is a dating site withing the first minute of joining?

Hi folks. Today I received a message from bcvvfgf1 that was a definite online chat up. It was signed "Vera". When I got into Vera's profile, her photo showed an attractive young miss and her flag showed her to be from Senegal. While it is flattering and a reminder of former times for a 69 year old to be called dear by such a person, I wonder about its suitability, particularly when Vera's profile showed that she joined the site on 10 January 2014 and at present has been involved in precisely zero chess games. Vera claimed to have had her interest aroused by my profile. It is a fairly minimalist profile, except for my avatar - a portrait of King Henry VIII. I am gald that Vera has such a keen appreciation of history.
damn, she's gone

Oh Vera was probably a great big hairy male named Ivor Biggun :)) so at least everyone's safe now he/she's been banned.

Did she have size 11 feet, 6ft 4" tall and comes from a now derelict building in Pakistan? It wasn't Vera it was the worlds hide and seek champion Bin Laden.

In today's Sydney Morning Herald there was a story about an Australian Olympic swimmer who got a silver at Atlanta. Anyway, it seems he has taken to using speed and has been busted a couple of times and accused of dealing. The relevance is that he denies the dealing and claims that he makes his money nowadays by setting up fake profiles on dating websites.
I would have thought that a big strong bloke like that would be able to make a good living just as a builders labourer or a bouncer, but no, he claims that the internet is full of morons who give money or buy memberships on dating sites. Personally, if I was him, I'd be worried that anybody with a computer in a 3rd world country could do what he claims he does for much less money.
It's called outsourcing
