very nice, it seems a lot more fat and not that slow at the start!
thanks!
maybe some problem with certificate in https? I had to force firefox to enter an untrusted domain..
which page did you hit, and how did you get there?

"Does the color of this bandwidth make me look fat?"
Just kidding - I couldn't resist, I knew you meant fast.
I'm having SSL certificate problems with IE and Firefox as well. This happens when I go directly to https://www.chess.com/login.html

thanks. why are you going directly there? do you have it bookmarked?
Yes, it was bookmarked. I can see that you are now directing to https://secure.chess.com/login.html. Mystery solved!

yep - we're trying to find a way to make that redirect work, but it isn't for now.
I got the Untrusted Connection error too from that url. But usually I just go straight to my home page so it's no issue.
& yes it does seem faster :-)
I was a Diamond Member until two days ago and so Basic seemed a lot slower
to me. However, tonight it does seem to be moving at a faster pace.
are you suuuure it is faster? or is it just faster because i am saying it is? :)
we actually really did do something meaningful, but it is hard to know if people just project in their minds that it is faster :)
You should do like a placebo "Is it faster?" and see how many people agree. Then, when you DO make a change, you can subtract that number from your count.
The site feel more or less the same to me. I didn't notice much difference. :/
No, the main page definitely downloads faster, and the same when I switch to my home page and back again.
Maybe the site is running faster but my laptop is definitely running slower... (moreover, when I running the antivirus, and a number of processes like right now) hehehe.
I have to buy a new one... (it is out of date) so, to be honest, I wouldn't be able to notice an improvement of a few milisec loading a website.
BTW, What did I notice was the GAME EXPLORER running faster. Definitely, there was a great improvement there. (Before, it took quite time to go from one move to another when surfing the explorer, now it is better and even much faster when I use Chrome... )
Does it have to do with Chess.com making a new dedicated server (I'm guessing from the new subdomain secure.chess.com) for logins and other authentication?
We made a pretty dramatic change to Chess.com today. We're now using a new service that is supposed to make everything faster, especially for non-US members.
The first few pages might load more slowly (as the site figures out where you are and gets some initial files), but should be zippy after that. Let us know what you think!
