It should not be too hard to write an article ;)
Chess.com Wikipedia page

If someone gives me the English article I could type it up in Russian. Erik, you can contact me if needed!

If everyone would be interested in sending me emails or private messages containing information and relevant dates (such as founding, live chess, etc), I would be more than happy to put something together in English. Once that's done, Erik could look over it for vernacular and what not.

i can't be involved in the process.
also, make sure you look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess.com
somebody tried to add this page before and it was deleted. apparently it was not "significant" or something. what is weird is that many other smaller websites have references. oh well :)

According to Wikipedia, when I looked a little into why it was deleted, I was redirected to a page that explained that "Wikipedia articles should not exist only to describe the nature, appearance or services a website offers, but should describe the site in an encyclopedic manner, offering detail on a website's achievements, impact or historical significance, which can be significantly more up-to-date than most reference sources since we can incorporate new developments and facts as they are made known. See current events for examples."

If nothing is done in the next few days, I can write one up. Anyone who's willing to read it over, in that case?
Self promotion is not the point of Wikipedia, though some do abuse it that way. What's the point anyway? Google - chess - and chess.com is #1 in the SERPS. I see no point or added value from a Wikipedia page pimping the site.

Pimping the site is not the intention, or at least not what I think the intention is. My thought was a place to document the history of the site, and hopefully a little about how it helped internet chess reach a new level.

Oh no, 'pimping' was not what I intended, although I admit it could be construed as such. My main point was really that an organisation as large within the chess community as this site probably merits an entry. :)

I have createdb the page people, go on Wikipedia and see for yourself, sorry it's not that great but at least it is something, wikipedia accepted it! Plz make modifications wherever necessay and add new sections. This will be the start of making chess.com dominent over the chess community. Also, plzcreate links wherever possible on other wikipedia pages. Sorry if you diagree with me on some parts, i have to make the article look neutral
I reckon a chess.com Wikipedia page would be a good idea. That way, more people might hear of the site. Also, considering that my home village (pop. 2000) has a page, chess.com (pop 400 000+) probably should as well.
