Clarification of time issues

Hey guys.

Please don't shoot me down here but can I have some simple clarification? :D

I'm an average player and try to mix up live games 2,5,10 mins etc but I find in almost every second 2/1-sec bullet game lately my time clock turns to doodoo at the end of the game. PLEASE NOTE - not whinging here!!

.. yesterday I played over 30 2/1-sec games and won only 13 ... Fair enough ... But out of the 17 I lost at least 13 of them were lost in the last 10-15 seconds with me ahead on time by 10 seconds and my opponent 1-2 seconds ... But I time out first.

I play with an IPad on a 4G wireless connection usually. The most extreme case was today when I played a 1300 player (I'm like 1100ish for Bullet) .. And when he got to 0 seconds - I had 30 left - and then suddenly I LOST on time...

Is it

A) my Internet connection disconnecting me at terrible times

B) the fact I use an iPad NOT a PC - hence move submission is faster (?) or the PC player uses premoving?!

C) some method where my opponent is about to lose on time and disconnects his account - so my time runs out when I'm waiting for him to move!?!

I know (of course) that I should just play better chess!! But can someone definitively clarify this for as its driving me absolutely nuts and making want to quit playing Bullet chess altogether ..

Anyone?? I read that discussion of this shouldn't be made on the public forums.

Is there a definitive view on this!?! Is there any way at all for my opponent to glitch the time clock?!

Hey snickersma,

So to answer your questions.

A/ Yes you could be getting disconnected at times.

B/ When playing bullet chess, using a PC may help as it is very very fast play and it is more difficult to play fast games on a touch pad rather than with a mouse. And premoving can be very effective in winning wuick games as they take 0.01 seconds to make.

C/ Your opponent cannot influence your clock.

And lastly, what usually always causes clock problems is internet lag.

I recommend you take a look at the following pages as they will explain everything to you :)

Hopefully that helps clarify a few things :)

Ok thanks guys! :)

It's very frustrating and maybe it's that I notice it more if I appear to be winning ... So therefore it's even more annoying.

I will say that the number of times I've been just about to win on time and I'm on say 10 seconds and they are on maybe 2 seconds - but just dont get to 0 seconds while Im moving instantly - seems inordinate... Could this be simply that they are using a PC .. Backing up pre moves and I'm not able to make up the extra 1 second using an iPad??
