I am looking for the ability to highlight squares, draw arrows and circles etc.

what is the best way to accomplish this ?

thx

ephemera_08

Hello, to highlight squares, right click the square you want to highlight (red), alt+right click = highlight (blue), shift +right click = highlight (green)

to draw arrows, right click the square you want to start to draw, and drag it to the square you want to stop, and an arrow will appear.

there are no circles in chess.com.

Have a good day!

I imagine those tools won't work on a tablet, even on a mobile browser. They expect keyboard and mouse interaction.

i can not seem to save them on my pc at chess .com using analysis

i can add them and when i move forward and backwards the flash then disappear anyway.

They are meant for live markup and are not saved, so will disappear when moving to a new position. I don't think there is a way on site to pre-build a game with that kind of markup.

Martin_Stahl

I checked with a staff member and saved markup like that isn't available.

its a shame but i think chessbase or old bookup did at one time

shame .. cause i was working on making videos for students to promote chess at no charge

but its difficult

thanks again for all your help! greatly appreciated

JamesColeman

Chessbase you can store arrows, highlighted squares, anything you want basically.

Presumably if you're making videos the lack of saved markup isn't an issue as they'll be viewable when replaying the video.

Good luck with your endeavours in promoting chess during this difficult time.

Thanks James!

Yeah, other database programs do it as well, so if you are recording a video, that certainly would work. While not as friendly as Chessbase, or any program with one of their interfaces, SCID and SCID vs PC can do it as well.

Thanks Martin , I will check out SCID greatly appreciate

Bump

It would be great if there could somehow be a feature to draw arrows on the app, like a button or something similar to that.

i wish there was an option to change default arrow/box colors yellow is kind of yucky looking

You can. Shift, Alt, Ctrl will change the color when drawing arrows and highlighting squares.
